Registering for an Athlete Profile
Your athlete profile is your competition identity on Hajime, holding your personal details, belt ranks, academy affiliation, and match history. Organisers use it to place you into the correct division when you register for an event.
Registering for an Athlete Profile
Applies to: Athletes
Your athlete profile is your competition identity on Hajime. It holds your personal details, belt ranks, academy affiliation, and match history, and it's what event organisers use when they place you into divisions. Here's how to create an account, set up your profile, and get ready to register for an event.
Step 1: Create Your Account
- Go to the sign-up page.
- Enter your email address, name and password, and accept the terms of service.
- Hajime sends a confirmation email to the address you provided. Open it and click the link to confirm your account and log in.

You can also sign up (or log in) using your Google account from the same page, if you prefer not to set a password.
Note: If you didn't set a password, none is required to log in afterwards. Hajime uses passwordless, email-based login: each time you log in, you'll receive a link by email instead of typing a password.
Step 2: Complete Your Athlete Profile
After your first login, go to your Profile page and click Edit to fill in your competition details.

Personal details
Fill in the fields that apply to you:
- Display name, birth date, gender
- Weight, height, reach
- City, country, nationality
- Blood type, bio, avatar
None of these fields are strictly required to create an account. Organisers do rely on your birth date, gender and weight, though, to place you in the correct division when you register for an event. An incomplete profile can lead to you being placed in the wrong division, so fill these in before your first competition.
Disciplines and belt rank
In the Disciplines section of your profile, add each discipline you compete in (e.g. Gi, No-Gi) and select your current belt rank for it. You can update your belt rank here whenever you are promoted.

Step 3: Join an Academy (Optional)
Affiliating with an academy is optional but recommended. It lets organisers and teammates find you, and some events offer academy-specific fees or team scoring.
- From your profile, search for your academy by name.
- Send a membership request.
- The academy owner or a coach approves your request; you'll be notified once you're a member.
You can belong to more than one academy, and you can register for events with or without an academy affiliation.
Registering for an Event
Once you're logged in, open the event's page and click Register, or find upcoming events from your Athlete Dashboard.
The only information required to submit a registration is your name. Everything else on your profile (belt, weight, division) is used afterward for bracket placement, so keep it up to date to avoid being placed incorrectly.
You can track all your event registrations from My Registrations, including payment status if the event uses online fees.
If an Organiser Already Registered You
Sometimes an organiser enters your registration for you directly, for example from a paper sign-up sheet at the venue. In this case, Hajime creates a placeholder profile on your behalf and emails you a claim link.
Click the link in that email to claim your profile. It logs you in and gives you full access to the profile the organiser created, so you can complete your details and see your results going forward.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to join an academy to register for an event? No. Academy affiliation is optional. You can register as an independent athlete.
What happens if I leave my belt rank or weight blank? You can still register for events, but organisers may not be able to place you in the correct division automatically. Fill these in before competing whenever possible.
I received a "claim your profile" email but I never signed up. What is this? An organiser registered you for an event on your behalf (e.g. from a paper entry). The email lets you claim the profile they created so you can manage it yourself.
Can I change my belt rank later? Yes, update it any time from the Disciplines section of your profile, for example after a promotion.
Do I need a password? No. Hajime uses passwordless, email-based login by default. You can optionally link a Google account for one-click sign-in.
