Giving Your Child Their Own Login
How a guardian hands a child's managed profile over to the child's own email, and how the child takes it over with a six-digit code.
Applies to: Guardians managing a child, and the children taking over their account
A profile you created with Add my child has no email and no login. Once your child is old enough, you can give them their own login without losing their registrations, history or documents. They keep the same profile.
Who Can Do It, and When
Only the linked guardian can hand a child's account over. Your child must have a birth date on the profile and have reached the minimum age for holding an account in their country: 14 in Italy, for example. Why Hajime Asks for Your Birth Date and a Guardian lists the ages. If your child is younger, the page says they can't have their own login yet. If your child has already come of age and you were their linked guardian, you can still send the invitation.
Send the Invitation
- Open the child's page from My athletes.
- Find Give [name] their own login, with your child's name in place of the placeholder.
- Enter their email address and country, then choose Send invitation.
Hajime emails the invitation link to the address. A six-digit code is shown to you on screen, once. Give the code to your child in person. It isn't in the email, so someone who only has the link can't take the account over.
A confirmation on the page shows the address the invitation went to, partly hidden. If your child doesn't receive the email within a few minutes, check that you typed the address correctly and look in the spam folder. If it still doesn't arrive, contact support from the Contact page.
Your Child Takes Over
- They open the link from the email while logged out. If they are logged in with another account, the page asks them to log out and open the link again.
- They type the six-digit code you were shown and choose Take over my account.
- They continue to log in with their email.
From then on the account is theirs. A parent can't accept for the child.
Lost the Code, or Changed Your Mind
On the child's page, Send a new link and code replaces the invitation: the old link and code stop working. Cancel invitation cancels it altogether.
An invitation expires after seven days. Five wrong codes cancel it, after which you send a new one. You can send up to five invitations or new links per hour, and sending to the same address is also limited to a few times a day. Past the limit the page says there are too many invitations and asks you to try again later.
After the Handover
If your child is still a minor, you stay linked as their guardian and keep your oversight until they reach the age of majority. At majority, your authority ends automatically and the account is the athlete's alone. You are told when that happens. If your child was already an adult when they took the account over, your authority ends at that moment instead.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an academy coach hand over the account? No. Only the linked guardian. For adult athletes added by an academy there is a separate path through the academy.
Why does the email not say which child it is for? The invitation is deliberately plain: the address might not belong to your child, and the email shouldn't tell a stranger anything about them.
