Restoring Paper Results

After running matches on paper, you need to enter the results back into Hajime so the brackets finalize correctly and the official record is complete. The Paper Entry screen is built for this: it lets you enter all results from your score sheets quickly, in any order, with the bracket advancing automatically as you go.

Opening the Paper Entry screen

Each mat has its own Paper Entry screen, reachable from the mat's page.

You can open Paper Entry for each mat independently. If you have multiple mats, work through them one at a time or have different staff members handle each mat simultaneously.

Entering a result

For each completed score sheet:

1. Find the match in the list. Matches are shown in running order, and you can use the match number on your score sheet to locate the correct row quickly.
2. Select the winner from the dropdown.
3. Choose the win method: Points, Submission, Ippon, Wazari, DQ, or Walkover.
4. Enter Score A and Score B, the points totals for each athlete.
5. Submit the result.

The bracket advances automatically as soon as the result is saved. You do not need to do anything else to progress the bracket.

Order does not matter

You don't need to follow the running order from your score sheets. The system handles out-of-order entry correctly: if you record the result of a semi-final before one of its feeders, the bracket will place the winner into the correct slot as soon as both feeders are recorded.

This means you can divide the stack of score sheets among several people and enter results simultaneously from the same event, without coordination.

When to use Walkover

If an athlete did not show up for a paper match, or was present at the start of the event but withdrew before this specific match, select Walkover as the win method. The opponent is recorded as the winner and the bracket advances normally.

Do not leave a match blank if the athlete was a no-show. Enter a Walkover result so the bracket can finalize.

What happens when all results are entered

The bracket finalizes automatically when every match is in a completed state. You do not need to manually close or confirm anything. Once the last result is submitted, the bracket moves to its completed status.

You can check progress at any time by switching to the Bracket view and looking for matches that are still shown as pending.

Correcting a mistake

If you entered a result incorrectly, use the bracket modification tools to void the result. Navigate to the bracket for the affected division, find the match, and use Void Result to reset it to pending. The match will return to the Paper Entry screen as an open match, and you can re-enter the correct result.

Tips for avoiding mistakes

• Work through score sheets in running order. It is easier to spot gaps that way.
• Tick off each score sheet as you enter it to avoid double-entry.
• If a score sheet is unclear, check with the referee before entering. Clarifying now is faster than voiding and re-entering later.

Safety note

Try not to close the Paper Entry screen mid-session if you can avoid it. The screen maintains your current position in the match list. If you do need to close it, simply reopen it: all previously entered results are preserved and already-completed matches will be shown as done.

Use the Bracket view to check which matches are still pending at any point during entry.
