Setting Event Fees
Fees control what an athlete pays to register, and whether they can pay online, in person on the day, or not at all. This article covers setting fees on a single event; see the academy and federation articles for recurring fee templates.
Setting Event Fees
Applies to: Organizers
Fees control what an athlete pays to register, and whether they can pay online, in person on the day, or not at all. This article covers setting fees on a specific event. If you manage recurring fee structures across multiple events, see the academy/federation fee-template articles linked below.
Where Fees Live
Fees are managed on their own screen, separate from the main event form. Open it from your event's fees tab. From there you can add fee rules. A rule can apply to the whole event or be scoped to a specific speciality or category, so kids' divisions, for example, can be priced differently from adult divisions.

Reusing a Fee Template
If your academy or federation already maintains a fee template (see Fee Templates for Academies or Fee Templates for Federations), apply it from the event fees screen instead of re-entering every rule by hand. You can still add event-specific overrides on top of an applied template.
Free Events
If your event has no fees at all, you don't need to add any rules. An event with zero fee rules is treated as free, and athletes register without a payment step.
Pay-on-Site
Hajime supports pay-on-site: an athlete can register online and settle payment in cash at the venue instead of paying online. This is what makes walk-up registration and roster-level cash settle possible on event morning, and it's covered in Event Morning. Nothing extra is required on the fees screen to allow this. It's a payment-method choice made at registration or check-in time, not a separate fee configuration.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can different categories within the same speciality have different fees? Yes. Scope a fee rule to a specific category rather than the whole speciality or event.
Do I need to configure fees before the event can go live? No, fee configuration isn't part of the readiness checklist. An event with no fees at all is simply free to register for.
Where do refunds happen? Refunds aren't covered by this guide; ask your organizer contact or contact support if you need to process one manually.
