Best-of-N Series Format
How the Best-of-N Series format works in Hajime and how to configure the series length for head-to-head match-ups.
Best-of-N Series Format
Applies to: Event organisers · Bracket managers
Best-of-N Series is for head-to-head match-ups that shouldn't be decided by a single bout: a challenge match, a dual final, or any two-athlete contest where you want the outcome to reflect sustained performance rather than one lucky or unlucky match. The two athletes compete in a fixed-length series, and the first to win a majority of the matches takes the series.
How the series works
Two athletes are scheduled into a series of a fixed length: 3, 5, or 7 matches. The series ends as soon as one athlete has won enough matches to make the remaining matches irrelevant. In a best-of-3 series, for example, winning 2 matches ends the series immediately, even if the third match was scheduled.
| Series Length | Matches needed to win |
|---|---|
| 3 | 2 |
| 5 | 3 |
| 7 | 4 |
